Waddaya mean that’s not what people call them?! Heh, jokes a side I often use the Internet for recipes. Its not so much that the books aren’t useful but I generally like a picture of what the final product should look like or, even better, a video showing me how to do it. Now where would you get those? Hmmmmmm.
Not sure if many of you have heard of Cooking With the Dog? Its a fantastic show on YouTube that teaches several Japanese dishes as well as Western influenced ones. The narrator’s accent is thick but fully understandable and the newer videos come with English subtitles just in case. The chef is currently in the hospital, however, due to a horrible accident. She’s in rehabilitation right now and improving although when new videos will be posted is uncertain. Keep her in your thoughts!
I spent time tonight after finishing my paper clicking through some videos, mostly sweets like Daifuku or Taiyaki. I was so inspired tonight by one of the videos I decided to make Omurice for dinner. It was a bit of a chore as our pans were either too large or too small for omelets and the sauce didn’t simmer quite right, still I’d say it turned out fairly well. My dad usually complains about stuff like that. Maybe he went easy because he knew I’d get mad if he nit-picked? Haha~ Unfortunately no pics for you as we were all starving although it looked mostly like what it should, if a bit too large from increasing the amounts. Video I used after the break!
